why gymnastics??

Gymnastics conditions the body through specific movements and positions that we would not normally get through everyday activity using the body’s own weight to build flexibility, agility, and strength in the upper body, lower body, and core.

 

Gymnasts climb, tumble and go upside down on age-appropriate equipment, developing coordination that improves reactions, physical corrections, and body alignment.

It is not uncommon for children to worry about climbing high, being upside down or flipping. Gymnastics instruction can open them to their surprising physical abilities, giving them more confidence and comfort to try new things. 

Students gain body awareness & coordination. We teach how to "fall" correctly & safely to prevent injury. Gymnastics is a great physical foundation for all sports!

Our instructors will teach your child how to achieve a goal by taking small steps through a progression of skills. This tiered approach helps break challenges into manageable increments, fostering confidence, perseverance, and determination to succeed.

Preschool Gymnastics and Movement Education Program for Toddlers, Preschoolers & Kindergartners!

Since 1986, Mid-Columbia Gymnastics has taught thousands of children in the area the fundamentals of movement! From forward rolls to cartwheels, our trained staff provides classes that incorporate balance, flexibility, strength, listening skills and proper social interaction with other children. We use a positive approach to teaching that helps the children learn that fitness is fun! Join us for a structured class full of fitness, music & fun!

3-4 YEARS

Start 'em Early!! Crawling, pulling themselves up, walking- we will have activities for everyone. Bond with your baby while socializing with other parents and their babies. Teacher led, age appropriate activities to help develop all 5 major areas of development: Cognitive, Social & Emotional, Speech & Language, Fine motor, & Gross motor skills. Bring home great ideas to continue to to help your baby learn!

This is our introductory class for boys & girls 18 months to 3 years. A parent or adult accompanies the student out on the floor and assists the teacher with guiding the kids through gymnastics skill stations, social interaction with other children and lots of fun. The beginning of class is circle time where the little gymnasts participate in animated warm ups and a fitness activity song. Tiny-Roos classes are full of fun gymnastics skills, balancing stations, trampoline, bars, coordination activities, work on listening skills and much more.

Let's hear it for 3 and 4 year olds! This co-ed class is so much fun because this age is ready to learn skills while mom and dad watch from our viewing area. Often, this is the first structured type class for many of our students. Our teachers instruct the kids in fitness skills on the pre-school sized gymnastics equipment, basic tumbling and trampoline skills. They also participate in activity songs and much more. This class is a great foundation for listening and social skills. 45 min per week.

HOT TOTS 
*INVITE ONLY

Hot Tots is an invitation only class for 3-5 year olds that are showing more than average strength and coordination. The program focuses on conditioning and coordination to get these little gymnasts ready for pre-team if that is what they would like or for an intermediate recreational class. If you are interested you can ask your Little Roos or Bronze instructor!

CHEERNASTICS

3-6 YEARS

Cheernastics is a combination class that works on gymnastics events which include bars, beams, vault, and basic tumbling then switches to cheer which includes basic motions, jumps, kicks, and tumbling.

NINJANASTICS

3-6 YEARS

Tired of your little one using your couch like a jungle gym?? If you are looking for a safe & creative way to burn off some of that excess energy Ninjanastics is a fun new approach to teaching gymnastics! Kids will work on core gymnastics skills such as jumping, swinging, hanging, landing, and basic tumbling while building strength, increasing body awareness, and fine tuning gross motor skills in a supportive environment. Emphasis on learning how to fall correctly to prevent injury and promote safety inside and outside of the gym!

COPPER GIRLS (before 4pm)

4-5 years

The girls learn beginning level skills on the four women's gymnastics events- vault, floor exercise, beam and bars. All classes work on trampoline, balance, coordination, strength and safety skills. Our instructors teach in a positive, structured format to ensure every student is learning while having fun. 55 min. per week.

BRONZE BOYS 
(before 4pm)

4-6 years

The boys learn beginning level skills on all six men's gymnastics events- floor, high bar (a much smaller version), rings. vault, pommel horse and parallel bars. All classes work on trampoline, balance, coordination, strength and safety skills. Our instructors teach in a positive, structured format to ensure every student is learning while having fun. 55 min. per week.

Not sure whether to enroll in gymnastics or tumbling??

If your child is a bit younger, you’ll want to start out with an introductory level gymnastics class. Gymnastics class will familiarize your child with all the forms and equipment used to perform each move. They will learn the basics of each element and practice listening skills and flexibility. As your child gets the hang of gymnastics, they will be able to smoothly transition into tumbling classes which consist of all floor and trampoline.

​If your child already has basic gymnastics skills or you’re looking to prepare them for a different a sport that requires certain skill, tumbling classes may be a better fit. Remember, it takes hard work and consistency to master a skill. Start tumbling class well before try out time!

Elements of Tumbling Will Greatly Benefit Students in:

Cheer, Karate, Skateboarding, Dance, Snowboarding, Diving & Swimming, Track & Pole Vault, Volleyball, Wrestling, Football, Baseball, Basketball, Soccer, Trampoline and basically every other sport!
